Michael Still Art

Michael Still has been creating fine art, sculptures and custom wood turnings at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, Colorado for over 40 years. He has been working extensively in the art of woodworking for over 38 years. He specializes in wood turning of all shapes and sizes and can facilitate any size of job, big or small

He has worked re-fabricating and remodeling old molding, trim, staircases and fine furniture in establishments such as Ames Hall in South Carolina, General Wes Morlan’s home, The Ford house, Dick Wilson’s home (Mr. Whipple from Charmin), Kissing Camels Country Club, The Broadmoor Hotel and Resort, Archdiocese of Denver Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and many others. He has designed and built sculptures for organizations like the Southeastern Ironworkers, the Canadian Ironworkers, as well as hotels in Florida and around the United States. He was the first honorary member of the South Eastern Wildlife Expo in 1992 and is affiliated with the American Association of Wood Turners.

Michael is also an extremely accomplished realist painter and sculptor using wood, clay, lost wax, amber and stone. He does overlays and inlays of gold leaf and silver, stone, mother of pearl, plastics, precious woods, ebonies, ivories, amber and countless others.

He has designed and built his own machines from scratch, the latest being a mammoth lathe capable of artistically free flowing and manual pattern following. It is capable of turning wood ranging in size from a toothpick to 5′ in diameter and 12′ lengths at a time.
